Owner Spotlight: Catherine Lough-Li

I’m Catherine Lough-Li, proud owner of C. Lough-Li Professional Corporation.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I grew up in Cornwall, Ontario and pursued my undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa. I then obtained my Chartered Accountant designation , now referred to as Chartered Professional Accountant designation in the province of Alberta. I obtained valuable experience in excess of 25 years in both the provinces of Alberta and Ontario. From this knowledge base I started up my own public accounting firm – C. Lough-Li Professional Corporation 10 years ago. I assist private enterprise clients, both profit oriented and not-for-profit clients by preparing financial statements, corporate tax returns, setting up corporations, bookkeeping services, and providing audit services for them.

My prime responsibility is the responsibilities of a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Business Owner within the public accounting industry.

In a typical day I am striving to grow my business by advertising, pursuing business groups and consulting with clients to ensure that we are engaging the appropriate clients by meeting their expectations with the services our firm offers.

As part of this typical day, I would be meeting with client to approve Financial Statements or any other services they may have engaged. Of course staffing/training, dealing with Canada Revenue Agency are all part and parcel to every client engagement.

On an ongoing basis I am involved in professional development to stay abreast of the constant changes in the Industry and Standards. Quality control is a constant factor throughout the engagements and my responsibilities.

Knowledge in accounting, audit, tax and bookkeeping, communication skills, and organizational and efficiency skills are paramount to my business.

I attribute my success to ambition, perseverance, and knowledge. My collective experiences in the past that have had the most impact on my leadership style. Watching my clients grow and dealing with business matters in a better way with each passing year is something I admire the most about my business.

Away from work, dancing, going to the theatre, walking, hiking, and enjoying nature are my leisure activities.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
